Did you pay money out for an activity or tutoring for your child age 15 and under or 18 and under who has a disability? You may be able to get up to $500 back on your Canadian taxes this year! That's up to $500 that you could use on this year's activities!

Tricky Wording Hides Rebate

Although Line 370 - designates the tax rebate as a Children's arts amount, the programs eligible for this money are extensive and include money paid for programs that:

1.contribute to the development of creative skills or expertise in an artistic or cultural discipline including:

- literary arts
- visual arts
- performing arts
- music
- media
- languages
- customs
- heritage;

OR
2. provide a substantial focus on wilderness and the natural environment
OR
3. help children develop and use particular intellectual skills
OR
4. include structured interaction among children where supervisors teach or help children develop interpersonal skills;
OR
5. provide enrichment or tutoring in academic subjects.

The program must have been at least 8 weeks long or 5 days if it was a full day activity.
